1000 Beasts: Cork native and multi-instrumentalist Cian Sweeney is artist and producer 1000 Beasts, one of the most exciting emergences on the current Irish music scene: an ambitious collaborative effort that sees each unique track worked with a new vocalist; the ‘beasts’ behind the name. 1000 Beasts is a new Irish creative offering an innovative way to create music. 1000 Beasts’ early successes include tracks Wonderland and Lord (It’s OK) being featured on cult reality TV smash Made In Chelsea, with Lord (It’s OK) also making Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist.
Just Charlie: “Just Charlie’’ is a brand new project from Cork based singer/songwriter Cathal Broderick.
Combining folk, jazz and blues with hints of hip-hop and electro, their soothing melodies and intricate harmonies create a chilled, relaxing atmosphere for listeners. Drawing inspiration from fellow Irish songwriters such as Mick Flannery, Damian Rice and John Spillane juxtaposed with hip-hop artists including J Dilla,Tom Misch and Mac Ayres.
Laura Duff: Laura Duff, winner of the IYMA’s Paul Clancy Songwriting Award in 2015 hails from Limerick but spends most of her time in Cork where she is studying music in UCC.
After being awarded the Paul Clancy Songwriting Award, Laura played for the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, in Dublin Castle in late December of 2015 where she shared the bill with Dublin indie-rockers, Little Green Cars. Since, she has supported the likes of Dublin duo Hudson Taylor, Roisin O, Christof Van der Ven of Bear’s Den and esteemed British singer-songwriter, Lewis Watson.
She was also selected for this year’s Whelan’s Ones To Watch Festival. Laura and her band released their debut single “Up to You” , which premiered on Nialler9 (https://nialler9.com/laura-duff-debut-single/) in November 2018, with the second single “The Other Side” released in December. Her debut E.P, “For Your Company” is due for release in February 2019.
Ghostking is Dead: Solo-project turned ambitious live act ‘Ghostking is Dead’ is the product of years of artistic growth from the project’s puppeteer Matt Corrigan.
Taking on a live-band in late 2017, Ghostking is Dead (or GKID) has seen unprecedented growth, with an array of gigs and always adapting and improving presence sonically. What more, ‘Sweet Boy’, GKID’s latest release, has seen incredibly positive reception from journalistic outlets of high-standing such as Nialler9 aswell as a public reception dwarfing all previous releases.
The Vercettis: Self-proclaimed as the 47th best band in the world, The Vercettis are an act you don’t want to miss. Consisting of quadruplet brothers separated at birth , The Vercettis were formed in 2016 when the brothers reunited.
A sound that jumps between energetic gypsy dance-rock to chilled out hip-hop influenced indie rock , The Vercettis have created something unique that will make you feel weird but in a good way. Exploring unusual topics that capture the listener’s attention, they are unafraid to deal with sensitive subject matter. They provide dynamic live performances that incorporate bold on-stage personas to further entertain their audiences.
As of 2019, they are in the process of releasing their debut EP.
