Summer ’18 at Pot Duggans
Well summer is officially over… and it has been our best yet. From monthly craft fairs, to wine and cheese festivals, to chilling folk music out in the barns to disco and house vibes down in the cellar. And we can’t forget about all our Friday night quizzes, free dinner names, board games, and drinks down by the riverside.
After reopening May 1st, it wasn’t long after when we started running our weekly events. The Brewtonic Beer Club every Thursday, were the lads from the bar walked around with tasters of what they’ve been brewing up that week.
The free dinner names, were 2 lucky folks got a dinner on the house at Pot Duggans if their name was picked. Remember when we spelt out Pot Duggans for the first few weeks?
Friday night quizzes at 9.30pm with Quizmaster Enda! These are always great craic, with a full house!
We’ve met some wonderful people throughout the months, and we wouldn’t have made it this far if it wasn’t for them.
The first ever Craft Fair took place on the 30th May, it was our biggest event of the summer. The first one was so successful that we decided to go ahead and make it a monthly thing. They ran the last Saturday of every month out in our barns from 12 – 6pm. We had great fun working with our lovely craftspeople who were with us from the beginning. Big shout out to Rosebud Craft Studio, Giulia Canevari Illustration, Antipode Bird, Wolf and Pearl Vintage, Debbie Harrington, Rowena Sheen Jewellery, The Irish Chandler and Anna Hargaden for getting involved.
The biggest event of the summer had to be our Eatyard Wine & Cheese Festival early July. The festival ran in our barns and courtyard both Saturday and Sunday. There were cheese boards, tastings, raclette, talks and demos and not to mention lots and lots of wine. Big shout out to the guys over in Corleggy Cheese, Toonsbridge Dairy, Wines Direct and Quintessential Wines. We couldn’t have done it without all your help! And for when we got really hungry after all that wine-tasting, HANDSOME BURGER was there to save the day. Came all the way down from Galway. Big Ups to those fellas… best burgers in town.
Our gigs out in the barns and down in the cellar were and always are a great buzz, with Paddy Dolan, Sweet Beat gig, Mid Summer Beats, The Murphy Beds, Tower St Music and Steo Wall. These guys will be sure to make a return to Pot Duggans for another whopper party. Forthcoming gigs… ROAN Oct 20th followed by one our favourites, disco DJ Paddy Dolan for our ‘Haunted Pub’ Halloween party the 28th
Oh, and we’ve finally gotten that ping pong table we’ve been talking about all summer, we’re running those ping pong tournaments every Thursday 😉 So here’s to many more weekly quiz nights, monthly gigs, Halloween fancy dress parties, and Christmas markets with plenty more to come.
So we just wanna give a massive thank you to all our customers, performers, friends and colleagues, it’s been a great summer, now here’s for an even better winter
